The starting point for Side A was the stage set design for a production of King Lear by artist Isamu Noguchi in 1955. His sketches for sculptures bare strange parallels to Side Two, which is made from a collection of well-worn, deconstructed Commes des Garcons shirts. The black ‘negative spaces’ are in part shirts, but in places include the Japanese fabric used by Simon Starling for his ‘At Twilight’ play.
