Quilt 67
H 160cm x W 120cm

We inherited two identical, very simple Indian tunics from Mary Stirling, one white and one black, produced by Denny Wickham. Both are much loved and worn, which is more immediately obvious in this black shirt than in the white used in Quilt 66, the sister to this quilt. We decided to further explore ideas around positive and negative space, much like Quilt 44, minimising the shapes between each elemental piece of shirt, and to set side-by-side where the eye goes when the black is positioned on white in the same configuration as the white laid out on the black in Quilt 66.
On the reverse of the quilt we have used blue and white tailored shirts and forced the extreme opposite from them, by reconfiguring them as flat planes of colour, one white and one blue, divided between the two quilts.
