After at last visiting the Villa Savoye in Poissy on the outskirts of Paris, designed by Le Corbusier in 1928, we decided to revisit the themes raised in Quilts 41 and 42, which explore the way we move through a building. This felt particularly fitting to the nature of the building. Using a collection of very well-worn Issy Miyake tops belonging to Annabelle’s mother, we wanted to experiment with the contrast of colour and light that are so apparent in Corb’s architecture.
On the reverse of the quilt, using a piece of wool, we have etched into the quilt one of the built-in elements within the house.
