This quilt was a commission for a newborn. We decided to look at the notion of the bed as a place of comfort and security. Using one of Sheelagh’s son’s favourite childhood shirts to reduce the scale, the front composition is taken from a small neolithic bed found at Skara Brae in Orkney while the back takes its forms from the iconic Aalto daybed.
