Quilt 39

H 237cm x W 170cm
Cotton and Silk

POA

We were given a shirt from the Memphis movement. It is basically constructed, but made from one of the fabrics designed by Nathalie du Pasquier for the group. In this quilt the challenge was how to approach such an iconic piece of clothing. Instead of the shapes of the shirt defining the negative space between them, in this case the shirt unpicked creates it’s own sprawling form.

The reverse takes three pairs of gym shorts, instead of the single pair used in Quilts 30 and 35.
