Quilt 40

Returning to Quilt 15, we used a collection of shopkeepers coats and a single orange boiler suit, arranging the pieces to blur the perception of positive and negative forms, making it ambiguous whether it is the brown pieces of the jacket or the white spaces between them that dominate. Similar to Quilt 15, but by using the coats we have increased the scale.

Continuing to look at power stations, the reverse of the quilt is constructed mainly of Annabelle’s father, Brian Henderson’s Indian night shirts with an outline of the Sizewell B nuclear reactor, designed by Brian, inserted into ‘the landscape’ of the quilt.
